Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how we process information when you use Network Checker Helper — an app for password breach checking, hidden camera and magnet detection, Bluetooth scanning, and Bonjour device discovery.
1. Who we are & contact
Controller: **COMPANY/LEGAL NAME**, **POSTAL ADDRESS**. Contact: **PRIVACY_EMAIL**. If applicable, Data Protection Officer: **DPO_EMAIL**.
2. What data we process
Network Checker Helper is designed to operate primarily on‑device. By default, we aim to avoid collecting personal data. Depending on your use and settings, the app may process:
- Diagnostics & app analytics (optional): crash logs, performance metrics, device model, OS version. You can disable analytics in Settings.
- Password breach check: when enabled, the app may send a hashed prefix (k‑anonymity) of your password or password hash to a breach database service, never the full password. You can opt out.
- Bluetooth & network discovery: the app may scan for nearby Bluetooth identifiers and local network (Bonjour/mDNS) service names to display to you. Raw scan results stay on your device unless you choose to export/share them.
- Location: not collected by us. Some platforms may require coarse location permission for Bluetooth scanning; results are processed on‑device.
- Support communications: if you contact us, we will receive the information you provide (e.g., email, logs you voluntarily attach).
3. Purposes & legal bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)
- Provide core features (on‑device scanning, breach checking via hashed queries): performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
- Improve and secure the app (optional diagnostics): consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
- Support & communications: legitimate interests in responding to inquiries (Art. 6(1)(f)) or performance of a contract.
- Compliance & enforcement: legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)).
4. Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. We may share with:
- Service providers (e.g., crash analytics, breach database providers) under data processing agreements.
- Authorities when required by law.
- Business transfers if we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with appropriate safeguards.
5. International transfers
If data is transferred outside your jurisdiction, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses). Details available on request.
6. Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above. On‑device scan results remain on your device until you delete the app or clear data. Support emails are kept for **RETENTION PERIOD**.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location (e.g., EEA, UK, California, Brazil), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, portability, withdraw consent, or opt out of certain processing/sales/sharing. To exercise, email **PRIVACY_EMAIL**. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
8. Children
Network Checker Helper is not intended for children under 16 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including on‑device processing and encryption in transit. No method is 100% secure.
10. Third‑party services
The app may link to or integrate third‑party services (e.g., breach databases). Their processing is governed by their own policies.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy. We will post the new version with an updated “Effective date” and, where required, seek consent.
12. Contact
Questions or requests? Contact **PRIVACY_EMAIL** or write to **POSTAL ADDRESS**.
